  1. I don’t mind it if a podcast series or YouTube channel I watch asks me to join their Patreon. More likely than not I won’t join because I listen and watch so much I would just go broke. I more mind it when I see my adult friends with GoFundMe pages for the dumbest things like to help them go on a trip or pay their bills. I get it if someone has a serious medical condition but besides that its absurd their are so many adults so blatantly asking for money for no reason besides their inability to take responsibilities for themselves.

    1. It depends on the Gofundme but I totally see your point
Ive been thankful though because of sites like that we were able to help save my pet, Dr Wily when he got sick early last year

  2. Patreon is a tough sell. I am part of the optibotimus patreon, because I like what he does.
As a podcast provider I’m doing this as a hobby, I know my content isn’t up there in quality enough to ask for money for. I under stand “everyone’s doing it” but I don’t see early Epidose releases etc as a worthy reason to pledge money each month. I’ve told my listeners my podcast will always be free I’d pisses me off constantly hearing podcast hosts asking for money to keep the lights on. It dosent cost that much to run a show and a site.
But then there’s what you guys do, at one point I had 15 of your different shows on my iPod and that’s a massive effort for you guys just in editing and I do believe you deserve something for it. I’d be willing to support your patreon on effort alone.
Sadly most patreons or kick starters are only there to self promote etc

    1. Agreed, and you guys spend a lot of time doing this. I’m referring more to content providers like me that only release one show a week. Or those wanting to pay for a trip to a con or have their own ironman suit.

      1. OK man, in defense of the iron mann suit. a local morning radio show host’s co host started that as a joke, and it took off. Once he gets the suit built, he’s going to make appearances at Children’s hospitals here in Louisville KY. and the rest of the money goes to a charity here Family and Children’s Place.

        1. You did comment about the charity work regarding the guy with the iron man suit. But I don’t see crown funding as the right way to achieve it. I don’t know who’d want a coffee mug with his pic on it just for pledging. A lot of people build costumes themselves to do the exact same thing.

          1. he’s got a huge audience here in town and lots of loyal fans. Again it was started as a joke, they never really expected to reach the goal.

      2. Even with a once a week show , I could see it depending on how much time and effort and production value goes into it.

The con trips are a bit harder sell because a good con will pay to have the guest out anyway so at that point it’s a sketchy fo me.

As for the Ironman suit…I’m sure there likely a cosplay community that radio station could reach out to.

        1. Yeah, in the end people can spend thier money how they wish. I throw money left and right So I don’t want it to sound likeminded telling people how to spend thier money. In the end it’s up to you guys if you start crowd funding. You put in the effort and deserve somethi for it and I’m sure it will work better then a PayPal donate button.

Ps Steve you don’t have to read all this out on next weeks show lol. Paraphrase son

    1. It may not cost much to run a show and a site but it does take time, effort, etc and that is time that could be spent elsewhere.
I do see your point however especially when it comes to reward tiers and what is worth the money, etc

  5. The segment idea is (in my personal opinion) moreso to be able o put breaks, and make sure conversation stays on topic. Whether that is steve by himself or when he has hosts on. We all tend to lose track of what we plan out for topics sometimes. Glad you are liking the show.

Just because I’m self centered sometimes, may I ask what you think of my La-La Land Lounge introduction in this ep?

  6. I like the segment idea but don’t know if I truly understand it. Like you mean how at times you are on by yourself then with others in a more discussion pattern. That’s fine I don’t mind that. A lot of podcasts I Listen to do the individual intros before the main show like Nerdist or WTF. Personally enjoy the discussion portion more.
